CARE Award Nomination

Fall 2023 CARE Award Nomination

What are Care Awards?

The CARE Awards, an acronym for “Celebrate Achievement, Reward Excellence,” commend staff members for showcasing exceptional performance, delivering outstanding customer service, and contributing to the University’s positive image. These accolades are presented by the Staff Council and the UT Dallas president to a maximum of six staff members at a semi-annual ceremony.

Who can be nominated?

To be eligible for nomination, an individual must be a regular employee appointed for at least 50 percent of a full-time position for a minimum of six months, have completed their probationary period (typically six months), and hold a staff position, excluding faculty, at the director level or lower.

Who can nominate staff members?

Faculty, staff, students, and retirees can nominate any staff member as a nominee.

How can a nomination be completed?

A nomination form must be completed using the PDF form.

When are nominations due?

Nomination forms can be sent year-round to CAREnominations@utdallas.edu. However, the fall deadline is October 31st, and the spring deadline is March 31st.

Common Questions:

Q: If a department wants to nominate someone as a group, should the group send one nomination for one nominee, or should we all complete one nomination for the group for the same person?

A: When nominating an individual, you can send in one form from the department, or multiple people can nominate the same person. Staff Council has received both formats for CARE award recipients. We encourage the nominators to include enough details for us to understand the nominee without meeting them.

Q: Can you receive a CARE award more than once?

A: Unfortunately, you can only receive the CARE award once. If someone is nominated and has received the award, we will contact the nominator to let them know.

Q: How do I know if a staff member is faculty or above the director level?

A: We will follow up with the nominator if the nominee does not meet the qualifications for the award.
