Campus Passport Office Now Open

The International Center has received authorization from the U.S. Department of State to be an official Passport Acceptance Facility. The office is located on the third floor of the Student Services Building, SSB 3.6, and is being run with the help of current International Center staff.

Register for Staff Gathering with President Benson

President Richard C. Benson welcomes staff members to join him for coffee and conversation. This in-person event will take place from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 in the Galaxy Rooms (SU 2.602). Limited seats are available, and registration is required.

Staff IDEAS Competition

UT Dallas Wants To Fund Staff Members' Bright Ideas

The Staff Ideas Competition is designed to engage our outstanding staff in UT Dallas' culture of innovation. The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship encourages staff and clinical faculty to submit their early-stage ideas for a startup or small business to compete for cash awards. The application period starts at 9 a.m., Thursday, May 26.

If you are interested in applying, register to attend the Staff Ideas Competition Information Session and Lunch, noon-1 p.m., Thursday, May 26, at Blackstone LaunchPad (Parking Structure 3). Learn about the application, requirements and process, and ask questions at the information session.

Learn about Percipio, Skillsoft's immersive learning platform. It offers professional and leadership development in a virtual atmosphere, allowing users to grow their skills in a way that best fits their schedule. Kimmie Plummer, customer success manager from Skillsoft, will provide helpful insight on how to navigate Percipio.

Lessons From Leaders - Dr. Richard Benson
9-10 a.m. Thursday, June 9

Dr. Richard C. Benson, president of UT Dallas, will share his insights and experience in leadership. Benson is the fifth president of UT Dallas, a young university of very high research activity (Carnegie R1) that is growing rapidly in size and stature. Between 2007 and 2017, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education, UT Dallas was the nation’s second-fastest growing public university.

Spring CARE Award Winners Announced

The CARE Awards, which stands for Celebrate Achievement, Reward Excellence, recognize staff who have demonstrated superior performance, offered outstanding customer service and performed acts that have enhanced the image of the University. Staff Council and the UT Dallas president present the awards to a maximum of six staff members each semester. Congratulations to the Spring 2022 award winners:

Nominations Opening Soon for Staff Council

Nominations for Staff Council will be accepted from June 1 - 31. Benefits-eligible staff members who have worked for the University for six consecutive months may be nominated to serve on the council as a representative. Anyone may nominate a candidate, or candidates may self-nominate. Campus districts elect representatives to serve two-year terms.

Staff Council Selling Graduation Bears, Cookbook

The UT Dallas Staff Council is taking orders for stuffed graduation bears for $9 each. They are available in two colors — ivory and orange — and may be purchased year-round.

Also, you can still purchase the Staff Council Cookbook for $8. The downloadable collection of over 50 recipes submitted by employees includes Filipino Ensaimada, Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup, Cheese Chicken Lasagna Roll Ups, Egg Roll in a Bowl, BLT Macaroni Salad, Keto Snickerdoodles, Apple Crisp with Salted Caramel Sauce, Triple Chocolate Cake and more.

Parking and Transportation Issue Refunds

Parking and Transportation issued a prorated refund to all active UT Dallas employees who had an annual parking permit as of March 1, 2020. The prorated refund was equal to the lesser of half of the annual price of the permit purchased or the price paid for the permit. The following list shows the estimated prorated refund for each parking category based on half of the annual price of each parking permit.

  • Handicap: $72
  • Green: $72
  • Housing staff: $72
  • Gold: $128.50
  • Evening orange: $162.50
  • Orange: $198
  • Purple: $306

The prorated refund was processed on the monthly payroll (Monday, May 2). Employees with an active FY 22 parking payroll deduction received a refund equal to the prorated refund minus the current parking deduction for the month.

Green Zone Training for Faculty and Staff

The Green Zone program, presented by the Military and Veteran Center, is designed to establish a network of University staff and faculty who shape a military-friendly campus culture. The next class is a two-part series offered in person from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 16. Both sessions are required to earn the Green Zone designation.

An additional class also will be offered in person from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 13.

Training topics include military terminology and culture, transition challenges for student veterans, classroom considerations, and campus and community resources.
